Black Pepper Ribs. I usually order this when I dine at Cafe Cartel. It is served with jacket potato, topped with sour cream, bacon bits, mixed veggies & corn on cob. The black pepper sauce makes the ribs taste so good. For S$16.50 you will be satisfied and will be full.

7107 Flavors

7107 Flavors, a Filipino restaurant, is located at level 2 of Marina Square (near the Raffles Link entrance).

Lunch Buffet. I come to know this thru some of my Filipino colleagues a couple of days. Then this morning my one of my lunch buddies, a Singaporean wanna try the food for lunch. I said "okay, let's give it a try". So we went there for lunch. Ambiance is good. Service is good. But the food... almost all dish are meat: lechon de leche (roast suckling pig), kare-kare (oxtail stew), mechado and pork barbecue. They also have sour soup with shrimp and grilled fish (tilapia). For vegestable they have 'laing' (taro leaves). The starter is 'lumpiang hubad', and of course steamed rice will be there.

For dessert the have sans rival cake and gulaman (jelly). the buffet costs S$24 with a drink of either code or sprite. Expensive for there was no really meat in the kare-kare its just pork stomach (bleh..). But should give a try. I think its a project of Philippine Dept. of Tourism here in SG.

Crystal Jade Express

Crystal Jade Express serves fast and convenient express meals. One branch I knew off is in the basement of Wisma shopping center.

Soy Chicken/ Roasted Chicken. Once a month I try to buy soy chicken or roasted chicken for dinner take-away at home. One whole chicken for promo period costs S$10; and around S$13 without promo. Chicken is another source of protein thats why I love eating chicken. Just don't eat the fats and the skin. When you buy the soy chicken do not forget to ask for ginger sauce it they forget to include it.

The smell will make you hungry!

Soup Restaurant

Soup Restaurant is wide spread in Singapore. I have tried the branch in the basement of Suntec Tower 3. This restaurant serves mainly Chinese soups and is good enough for a satisfying meal.

We ordered a package meal for 2 consisting of Samsui Ginger Chicken, boneless San Yu fish, kangkong, radish soup, rice and dessert of jelly all for S$40. The Samsui chicken is served on a large white plate centred by a bowl of roughly minced ginger sauce. On a small plate next to the chicken, a pile of lettuce leaves. Peal a lettuce leaf gently, stuff it with steamed chicken meat and a cucumber. Then add some ginger sauce, and be delighted in the harmonious flavours that awaits you.

But it is not just the chicken that is good. We have enjoyed the boneless San Yu fish slices cooked with ginger and spring onion. The kang kong is cooked in a chilli sambal is a nice dish to accompany steamed rice.

My favorite here is the fish! Fresh and good.
